Fees: Patreon vs FitCoUp
As of October 2026, Patreon's help center states a standard 10% platform fee for creators who launched after 4 August 2025, plus payment processing at 2.9% and $0.30 per payment for cards and payouts fees such as $0.25 per bank payout. There is no monthly fee. Purchases inside the iOS app use Apple's in-app purchase system with a 30% fee on those prices; Patreon notes that US iOS members can pay through the mobile web instead.
FitCoUp charges a flat plan: Basic 99 EUR per month for 300 students, Pro 499 for 3,000, Enterprise 899 for 15,000, Agency 1,499 for unlimited, with two months free on annual billing and a 0% platform fee; only Stripe processing applies and payouts go to your own Stripe account. Members install your branded PWA from your link, so there is no app store fee on the web checkout. At a small revenue Patreon costs less; as revenue grows the 10% passes the flat plan.
What members get
On Patreon a member gets access to posts, videos and a community in the Patreon app, next to every other creator they support. On FitCoUp a member installs your branded PWA and follows a program.
- Programs as day by day paths with weeks, modules, sequential or date based access and free preview lessons.
- Guided player with per exercise countdown, rest timer, intervals and rounds, follow along mode and alternatives.
- Streaks with two freezes a month, milestones, measurements and progress photos with consent.
- Community with topics per program, polls and moderation on Pro and above, inside your app.
Selling and retention
Patreon sells tiers from your page and your links; discovery inside Patreon is limited for most creators and there is no quiz or funnel tooling. FitCoUp sells through a quiz funnel that maps answers to a program and an offer, sells one program as monthly, 3 month, 6 month, annual, lifetime or one-time, and runs funnels after the sale: a one-click offer on the thank you page, checkout recovery emails and upsell funnels from an entry product to the membership and to the next level. The retention engine runs 16 rules and 64 templates from day one, failed payments are retried on day 1, 2 and 3 with a one tap card update, and the dashboard shows LTV, CAC and revenue from each mechanic.
Who should stay on Patreon
Patreon is the better choice when:
- Your product is content (videos, posts, podcasts) and a community, with no program to follow.
- Your revenue is small enough that 10% costs less than a 99 EUR plan.
- Your members already pay you there and the switch would cost more than the fee.
- You want zero fixed cost and no setup beyond tiers and posts.
Moving from Patreon to FitCoUp
Export your member list from Patreon and import it into FitCoUp as a CSV with email, name, program and end date. Billing does not move: members restart their subscription in your checkout, ideally with a coupon or a trial, and you can run both platforms during the transition. Upload videos to private storage or link them from YouTube, Vimeo or Bunny, and build the first program from a template. A school can be live the same day.
